What was done

In the 4-storey complex Smartess (a fitness club, restaurant and coworking space) located at 41 A Zhylianska Street in Kyiv, has installed a VRF system – a heat pump of the famous Hitachi brand.

The system’s outdoor units operate in conjunction with the indoor duct modules and the integrated ventilation duct system, which ensures the most even heat/cold distribution and minimum noise performance.

The sports facilities are served by an Aerostar supply and exhaust system with a high-efficiency rotary recuperator. The restaurant has a supply and exhaust system with a sealed plate type recuperator, as well as fans from Ruck. Such a design allows reusing excess heat from the umbrellas in the kitchen to heat the air coming in during the cold season. Freon condensers and evaporators installed in the air handling units and connected to Hitachi heat pumps provide heating or cooling of the supply air.

The climate control equipment is controlled by the Smart Home dispatching system, which allows for clear, fast and automated control of the microclimate of the entire building.

The power consumption of the entire HVAC system in the Smartass fitness club, restaurant and coworking space does not exceed 35 kW.

Stages of work

Energy audit

Electricity engineering surveys were carried out, and an effective solution was found to minimize electricity consumption.

Pre-design work

We analyzed the building reconstruction project and selected energy-efficient and cost-effective equipment.

Design

A project of supply and exhaust ventilation (Ruck and Remak, Aerostar) with the function of cooling, air heating, VRF air conditioning system Hitachi was made.

Preparatory work

Preliminary marking and planning, preparation of sites for ventilation machines, mounting frames and openings were carried out. The following work was performed: drilling holes for air ducts, copper and drainage pipelines, electrical cables; installation of embedded parts.

The first stage of installation work

Air ducts, freon lines and drainage pipes, as well as power grids and insulated channels were laid. Equipment was delivered to the facility.

The second stage of installation work

An air handling unit with a rotary recuperator and recirculation, a freon evaporator and condenser, and a backup electric heater from Aerostar was installed for the gym.

A supply and exhaust duct system with a sealed plate recuperator, Ruck fans, cooling and heating functions for the restaurant and kitchen halls was assembled.

Hitachi heat pumps were installed to heat and cool the supply air. A Hitachi VRF system was installed as the main heating and cooling system. Ducted indoor units were installed.

The third stage of installation work

Installation of supply and exhaust grilles and diffusers was completed.

Automation and dispatching

Our company connected the equipment. We integrated the automation into the Smart Home dispatching system, which allows you to quickly control the climate of the entire fitness center.

Commissioning and adjustment works

The system was set up, started up, purged, adjusted and prepared for operation.

Acceptance into operation

The facility was put into operation and the executive documentation was prepared.
