What was done
The task of heating, ventilation and air conditioning of a detached house on the Odesa highway in the village of Gatne was completed with only 45 kW of electricity.
The main air conditioning and ventilation system is a Hitachi VRF (air source heat pump). Outdoor units work with indoor units of cassette and wall type.
A CrasStar air handling unit with a rotary high-efficiency recuperator (up to 80% heat recovery) was installed.
Design work, equipment supply, installation, and commissioning of the HVAC system were completed.
Stages of work
Energy audit and project studies
Engineering studies were conducted and calculations were made to reduce electricity costs. A project using energy-saving technologies was developed.
Design and installation solutions ventilation systems
Since the facility initially had a small amount of electricity available, an energy-saving HVAC system was calculated during the design.
The main ventilation equipment is an Aerostar CrossStar air handling unit with a rotary recuperator with an efficiency of up to 80%. The system also includes a condenser cooler with a heating function using freon.
Due to the peculiarities of the building’s construction (height to the ceiling is more than 4 meters), a technology was used in which exhaust air ducts are mounted near the ceiling, and supply air ducts are mounted a little lower. This decision was made at the design stage in order to minimize the heat loss of the building. In this particular case, the warmer air that is located above is taken in by means of grilles and enters the recuperator, where it heats the supply air and then is removed to the street.
Vortex diffusers are used as distribution devices, which form a swirling jet and allow the air flow to reach the lower area of the warehouse.
Design and installation solutions for heating systems and air conditioning
The Hitachi VRF system works not only for air conditioning and cooling in the air handling unit, but also as an autonomous heating system. The air handlers are cassette air conditioners, which are located throughout the sales area, and wall-mounted air conditioners in the staff rooms.
This system has a redundancy function. The combination of two outdoor units saves energy by distributing the load accurately. In addition, in the event of an accident and failure of one of the units, the system will not stop. Wide operating range: from -20 °C to +43 °C; allows the equipment to operate all year round.
Outdoor units include a snow blower function. When the sensor is triggered, the fan rotates faster to prevent snow from sticking to the blades.
Automation and dispatching system
An individual HVAC equipment control system was developed to control the microclimate in the building.
Launching and debugging the system
The system was set up, started up, purged, adjusted and prepared for operation. The facility was put into operation. The executive documentation of HVAC systems was prepared
